2026 Yamaha XV1100 Virago Redesign

2026 Yamaha XV1100 Virago Redesign Plan. The Yamaha XV1100 Virago is a V2 four-stroke cruiser motorcycle produced by Yamaha between 1986 and 1999. It can reach a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h). Maximum torque is 62.7 ft/lbs (85.0 Nm) @ 3000 rpm. Claimed horsepower is 60.75 hp (45.3 kW) @ 5600 rpm. But what are the hopes of fans of the 2022 Yamaha XV1100 Virago redesign plan? Will Yamaha reject this love and longing? Probably not, as this large company has likely prepared something for fans of older motorcycles, especially in this regard. In recent years, the US motorcycle market has been very interested in large motorcycles like the Yamaha XV1100 Virago.

Yamaha XV1100 Virago Engine

The engine is an air-cooled, four-stroke V2. Its 95.0mm x 75.0mm stroke produces a displacement of just 1063.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel is supplied via an overhead camshaft (OHC).

Driving

This bike has a 5-speed transmission. Power is moderated by a wet multi-plate.

Yamaha XV1100 Virago Chassis

It comes with a 100/90-19 front tire and a 140/90-15 rear tire. Stopping is achieved by dual disc brakes at the front and extended brakes at the rear. The front suspension uses a telescopic fork, while the rear features dual shocks with 5-way preload adjustment. The XV1100 Virago is equipped with a 4.49-gallon (17.00-liter) fuel tank. It weighs just 487.22 pounds (221.0 kg). The wheelbase is 60.04 inches (1525 mm).

A Satisfying Ride

The 1995 Virago 1100 rides like a dream. Not too big, not too small. Front fork springs were installed, as the front end is notorious for wallowing at speed or on rough pavement. Progressive fork springs solve everything. The front brakes are fine, but you can never have too many brakes. Replaced the dropout lines with braided stainless steel lines to help with hard stopping. After I installed an aftermarket exhaust, the carburetor was blown on the lean side, and the engine ran hot. I turned it down, but it now starts better, runs cooler, and has better power. The bike needs a windscreen if used at high speeds. Cruise control, or a throttle lock, is helpful. The saddle looks good, but has little movement after sitting for a while. The horn was replaced with a louder unit. The engine produces good power, is reliable, and is designed for easy maintenance. I adjust the valves myself, saving a lot of money. It rides like a comfortable rolling chair.

The shaft drive requires no maintenance other than oil changes. The rear shock has plenty of spring rate for two rides. The left pod was injecting air into the exhaust, causing it to backfire. All that stuff was removed, the line was closed, and the problem was solved. It's not a race bike, not designed for off-road use, and could use a sixth gear. For an 1100, the top speed is 115 mph; any 600cc bike will exceed that. Realistically, 85 mph is its outer limit, as the bars get crowded beyond that speed. Its appearance gets comments at gas stations. It gets 50 mpg. The rear tire lasts 5,000 miles, the front tire lasts 8-10,000 miles. The front fork seals last 10,000 miles, and the left side always leaks first. What? The cables, clutch, speedometer, and throttle all need to be replaced from time to time, as failures occur without warning.

Advantages of the Yamaha XV1100 Virago

2026 Yamaha XV1100 Virago Redesign

Best Points: Extremely comfortable on long rides, stunning looks—a head-turner, the best engine ever produced—torque, economical when not pushed to the max, simple and easy to maintain. A blast to ride—no fuel injection issues.

While not the fastest bikes out there, they more than make up for it in comfort and ride quality. All my Viragos are set up for long rides with the addition of: A 15" low windscreen, a set of panniers, a sheepskin seat cover, a pack rack and gearsack, and highway pegs. They're so comfortable that after 10-12 hours in the saddle, I felt like I'd just been on a local and back trip. This is the most underrated bike ever made, and like others, I agree it's a shame Yamaha doesn't make them anymore.

The Virago 1100 Is Great for a Grin and a Reminder

The Virago 1100 is great for a grin and a reminder of what cruisers used to be—and should be today. It's light, relatively nimble, and fast. Even nearly three decades after the model's launch, it's still a decent ride and is preferable to the Harley Sportster, both the 883 and 1200. Much faster than both—and a much better value. Positive Attributes: Weighs about 450 pounds wet. Good in corners and turns (for a cruiser). Comfortable seat. Not a Harley-style knockoff. A killer machine that works all day and is smooth as silk when tuned properly.

Perfect Ride, Full Power, Seat Comfortable,

Good Balance

Perfect ride, full power, comfortable seat, good balance. Very powerful, comfortable, easy to ride, good balance, cheaper than a Harley and neater, you can ride like a scooter and squeeze through tight exits. The aluminum body is prone to cracking, as it lacks a belly for protection. One rock can erase the beauty!! The rear of the bike seems to slide around corners!
